Professional Certification

The professional Computing and Information Assurance fields are moving toward establishing their own professional certifications. The Department of Defense (DoD) has recently issued a very aggressive requirement for all members of the DoD IA workforce to acquire several professional certificates.

We feel that, to the extent possible, the IA undergraduate degree offering should provide coverage of the material germane to these certifications. To that end we have found it very advantageous to capitalize on our strategic partnership with Metro Community College that provides access to some of the material relevant to some of the certificates.

We expect all of our majors to successfully achieve A+ certification before the beginning of the second year of study. The majors are expected to have completed the Security+ certificate by the beginning of the senior year. All majors are expected to successfully complete the CISSP, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, certification exam by the end of the senior year.
